About Khenpo Paljor Gyatso
Khenpo Paljor Gyatso is a lama of the Kathok lineage in the Nyingma school of Tibetan Buddhism. He received the title of Khenpo after years of deep study at Larung Gar Monastic University in Tibet, where he trained under great masters like Khenchen Jigme Phuntsok and Khenchen Tsultrim Lodro. His education spanned philosophy, history, poetry, and the profound teachings of Sutra, Tantra, and Dzogchen.
Born in Amdo, Tibet, Khenpo began his monastic journey at age 9 under the guidance of Choktrul Kadag Rinpoche. By 28, he had earned recognition as a top scholar among thousands at Larung Gar. Since 2004, he has shared his knowledge at Stanford University, working alongside the late Tibetan scholar, Dr. Robert W. Clark.
Khenpo is known for his warm, down-to-earth teaching style—full of wisdom, humor, and humility. Whether guiding beginners or experienced practitioners, he makes Buddhist philosophy and meditation feel accessible and relevant. At the request of his teacher, he now offers traditional Buddhist teachings to students in North America, continuing the lineage’s mission of sharing the Dharma.
